Virginia Beach to Host Public Meeting To Review Draft Complete Streets Policy
Friday, August 29, 2014 · 12:00 pm
The public is invited to review and discuss the city’s draft
Streets Policy on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 6 p.m. at the Renaissance Academy,
5100 Cleveland St.
The purpose of the Complete Streets Policy is to improve the
Virginia Beach transportation system by providing safe, attractive travel for all
users through a system of connected transportation choices designed in harmony
with adjacent land uses. The city policy will be formally initiated by an administrative
directive signed by city departments involved in road planning and construction.
At this meeting, residents and business owners can comment
on the proposed policy and discuss it with city staff.
Staff has been developing the Complete Streets Policy for
the past 18 months. It was initiated by a Smart Growth America technical
assistance grant, which funded public and staff workshops in spring 2013.
