Kelli Norman, director of tourism marketing and sales for the Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, recently earned the prestigious Certified Destination Management Executive designation. This honor places Norman in a select group of 275 travel and tourism executives worldwide who hold the title, the highest educational achievement offered to professionals in the Destination Marketing Organization industry.
“We congratulate Kelli on this distinguished honor as she joins an elite group of professionals who work to elevate the travel and tourism industry,” said Director of the Convention & Visitors Bureau James B. Ricketts. “Kelli’s contributions to the leisure sales department, which includes various markets such as group tour and international countries, has tremendously helped to generate economic growth for the City of Virginia Beach.”
Norman has worked in the tourism industry for more than 26 years, holding various positions at hotel properties and attractions. In addition to her work with leisure sales, she also oversees contracted representatives for the Convention & Visitors Bureau’s European- and French Canadian-based offices. She chairs the bureau’s Virginia Beach Tour and Travel Committee and the Virginia Beach International Committee.
“I thrive on increasing tourism and the opportunities it brings to Virginia Beach,” said Norman. “In the past five years I have seen this destination rise to new heights due to increased product development enhancements, which our domestic and international visitors love. I am looking forward to expanding the opportunities in the international market and what the next five years might bring for tourism and the City of Virginia Beach.”
