Had this matter gone to trial, the Commonwealth’s evidence would have proved that between May 10, 2010 and August 27, 2011, Antonio Maurice Taborn on multiple occasions sexually abused a teenager known to him in the City of Virginia Beach. When the victim’s guardian learned of the abuse, the victim was taken to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters for an examination. The police were notified and began an investigation. Taborn was interviewed by detectives and admitted to sexually abusing the victim on multiple occasions.
Taborn has prior convictions for Sexual Battery, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, Contempt of Court, Trespassing, Possession of Cocaine, Attempting to Elude Police, and numerous traffic offenses. A prior victim of sexual abuse by Taborn testified at today’s sentencing hearing about the offenses committed against her in the 1990s.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Elliott H. DeJarnette V and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Katharine D. Seal. Please contact Macie Pridgen if additional information is desired.
