The Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission (HRC) is celebrating the 65th Annual International Human Rights Day by hosting a public forum. All residents, students, organizations and nonprofits are invited to attend to learn more about the City’s Envision 2040 Plan, demographic predictions, and how they can help build diverse, inclusive neighborhoods to make Virginia Beach a “Community for a Lifetime.” The forum will be held Dec. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Renaissance Academy, 5100 Cleveland St. The format will provide a welcoming, safe and engaging environment.
The forum will be guided by trained moderator, Jonathan Zur, President of Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, with expert panel members to include Envision 2040 Chairman Gary McCollum, Human Rights Commissioners and youth representation.
“We’re very thankful for the partnership with the Envision 2040 Committee and the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities to offer this community dialogue, with hopes of increasing mutual understanding and respect among Virginia Beach residents as we prepare for the future of our great city,” said HRC Chairman Jim Parke.
