The Department of Housing and Neighborhood Preservation and the Hampton Roads Community Foundation invite the public to participate in a Community Consultation session on either Monday, March 4, or Wednesday, March 6, to help identify and prioritize the most important components for the future Housing Crisis Response System. Both sessions will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library, 4100 Virginia Beach Blvd.
In September 2012, the Hampton Roads Community Foundation provided funding for a study of the homeless services system in Virginia Beach, including regional components and connections of that system. The study will recommend changes to the current emergency system that is designed to help individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness find housing and prevent people at risk from becoming homeless.
The Community Consultation sessions will be facilitated by John Whitesell of OrgCode Consulting, Inc., a firm selected by the foundation and the city to conduct the study. Whitesell will use a technique called “Breakthrough Thinking” to guide participants through the discussions.
