The City of Virginia Beach and the Virginia Beach Clean Community Commission are pursuing affiliation with Keep America Beautiful, which focuses on litter prevention, waste reduction, recycling, community greening and beautification.
On Saturday, March 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library, Keep America Beautiful trainers and a Keep Virginia Beautiful speaker will present national and state initiatives to invited guests. Members of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and Virginia Beach Council of Civic Organizations plan to attend.
Representatives of the Virginia Beach Beautification Commission and Amerigroup also have been invited.
The first hour of the meeting will be a presentation on the programs, benefits, grants, awards and philosophy of both Keep America Beautiful and Keep Virginia Beautiful. The remainder of the session will be a team meeting to analyze all the expectations and tasks to become a Keep America Beautiful affiliate, including type of organization, establishing bylaws, a mission statement, logo and board of directors.
