Free Calendar Encourages Water Conservation; Illustrations by Elementary School Students

The Virginia Beach Department of Public Utilities 2013 Water Awareness Calendar is now available. Distributed annually, the calendar (which happens to make a lovely holiday gift) reminds residents to use water wisely every day of the year.

Illustrations were chosen through Public Utilities’ annual water-wise art contest, held earlier this year, and show various ways Virginia Beach students, in grades K through 5, help conserve water, prevent backflow contamination, and properly dispose of fats, oils and grease. This year, the department selected 40 illustrations from over 1,000 submissions to be featured in the 2013 Water Awareness Calendar. 

Free copies of the calendar are available at all Virginia Beach public libraries and recreation centers, while supplies last. Copies are also available at the Public Utilities Business Office (Municipal Center, Building 2, Room 200).
