The Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission (HRC) is seeking interested citizens and/or groups to participate in a cultural festival entitled “Autumn Colors – Leaves of Diversity”. The festival, hosted by the HRC, will provide entertainment and education to help build a stronger and more inclusive community.
The festival will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at the Farmers Market, 3640 Dam Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA. It will be free and open to the public. Citizens and/or groups will have five minutes to represent their culture at the festival through dance, song, poetry, storytelling, etc. Booths will be available for groups to share information as well. Citizens and/or groups interested in participating in the festival must register by Aug. 13, 2012 by contacting Bonnie Hall at 385-1158 or blhall@vbgov.com.
Food cannot be brought or prepared at the festival. Participants and citizens are encouraged to enjoy the variety of agriculturally inspired shops and related businesses that offer seasonal, fresh local vegetables and fruits at the Farmers Market.
