Wesleyan Drive between Youlous Avenue and the entrance to Virginia Wesleyan College (College Drive) will be closed for construction for two weekends in July – weather permitting.
Beginning Friday, July 13, at 8 pm, the road will be closed and will re-open on Monday, July 16, at 5:00 am. It will be closed again on Friday, July 20, at 8 pm, and will reopen on Monday, July 23, at 5 am. Motorists will be detoured to Baker Road and Northampton Boulevard respectively.
Construction crews will be installing storm sewer as part of the Wesleyan Drive Improvements Project. Signs will be posted in advance warning motorists of the closing.
The Wesleyan Drive widening improvements is a construction project involving the cities of Norfolk and Virginia Beach for the portion of Wesleyan Drive between Northampton Boulevard (Norfolk) and Baker Road (Virginia Beach).
E.V. Williams, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project.
