The City of Virginia Beach will hold two public meetings during the second phase of the master planning process for the Centerville Strategic Growth Area (SGA). Centerville is the last of eight SGAs identified in the City’s Comprehensive Plan to undergo this planning process of understanding, exploring and deciding on a long-range master plan for this area.
In early May, the City of Virginia Beach held the first round of public meetings to receive broad public input on the SGA’s strengths, weaknesses and opportunities. These meetings resulted in a set of draft design principles and a potential boundary expansion for the Centerville SGA. During the second planning phase, the Design Team will hold a week-long Design Workshop to refine these principles into future design scenarios for the SGA and obtain more specific public input.
As part of a week-long Design Workshop, the public is invited to an open house on Wednesday, June 6, from 6 to 8 p.m., to view the work in progress and talk with the design team. A public meeting is also planned for Thursday, June 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. to view a presentation on the refined design principles and design scenarios developed during the Design Workshop. Both meetings will be held at Atlantic Shores Baptist Church, Family Life Center Building, 1861 Kempsville Road.
