The Constitution of Virginia requires that voters be registered to vote in the precinct in which they live in order to be qualified to vote.
To be eligible to vote in the Republican Party Primary Election, to be held on Tuesday, June 12, voters must register no later than the close of business on Monday, May 21. Any change of address must also be made by May 21.
Tuesday, June 5, is the last day absentee ballot applications may be received by mail. Saturday, June 9, is the last day absentee ballot applications may be made in person.
Registered voters who need to vote in person by absentee ballot may do so at the:
Voter Registrar’s Office – Building 14 at the Municipal Center
April 27, 2012 – June 8, 2012
Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
And, June 9, 2012
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In-Person Voter Registration is available at all Virginia Beach Department of Motor Vehicles offices, Virginia Beach Public Library locations, and at the Voter Registrar’s Office during normal hours of operation.
Mail Voter Registration forms are available at public schools, U.S. post offices, community recreation centers, and offices of the city treasurer, clerk of the Circuit Court, commissioner of the revenue, and Lindsey Brothers Plumbing Co.
Mailed voter registration applications must be post-marked on or before Monday, May 21, and must contain a copy of current identification.
