Enhance your driving skills by learning about current rules of the road, how to operate your vehicle more safely in this increasingly challenging environment, and some adjustments to common age-related changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time in the popular AARP Driver Safety Program. This two-day course will be held 9 am to 1 pm on Thursday, March 22 and Friday, March 23, 2012 at Princess Anne Recreation Center, located at 1400 Nimmo Parkway in Virginia Beach. Though geared towards senior citizens age 50 and older, the course is open to people of any age. The AARP Driver Safety Program costs $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-AARP members.
The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation's first and largest classroom refresher course for drivers age 50 and older that has helped millions of drivers remain safe on today's roads. The 8-hour course is designed to help drivers:
- Tune up driving skills and update knowledge of the rules of the road.
- Learn about normal age-related physical changes, and how to adjust driving to allow for these changes.
- Reduce traffic violations, crashes, and chances for injuries.
- Drive more safely.
Participants must attend both days of the session to be awarded a certificate of completion.
