The Virginia Beach Police Department, Virginia Beach Crime Prevention Steering Committee, and the Youth and Community Action Team (YCAT) are sponsoring a prescription drug forum entitled, “The Impact of Prescription Drugs in Virginia Beach” on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m., at Corporate Landing Middle School auditorium, located at 1597 Corporate Landing Parkway, Virginia Beach.
Presentations will be given by a medical physician, a police detective from the department’s Special Investigations, and the Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney.
Prescription drug abuse is one of the dominant drug issues we face in the United States today. It is widespread across all age groups and socio-economic classes. The focus of the program is to make citizens aware of the issue, to discuss prevention measures, and the consequences of people’s decisions in regard to prescription drug abuse.
Refreshments will be provided. Resource tables will open at 6:00 p.m. The program begins at 6:30 p.m.
