The deadline for Virginia Beach elementary school students to submit entries for the Department of Public Utilities sixth annual Water Awareness Calendar Contest is Wednesday, Feb. 29.
The Department of Public Utilities, in an effort to promote water conservation among the city’s youth, is asking teachers and parents to encourage students to illustrate different ways to use water wisely for a chance to have their artwork featured in the department’s 2013 Water Awareness Calendar. All artwork should be accompanied by an official entry form, available at www.vbgov.com/pu-calendar-contest, and sent to Virginia Beach Public Utilities, ATTN: Media and Communications Coordinator, 2405 Courthouse Drive, Bldg. 2, Virginia Beach, VA 23456.
The Department of Public Utilities will choose 13 winners, as well as 27 honorable mentions, to have their artwork featured in next year’s Water Awareness Calendar. The winners will also receive a $50 savings bond, to be awarded by Mayor William D. Sessoms, Jr. at an official awards ceremony during Drinking Water Week in May.
