VBgov.com Rated One of Virginia’s Top City Websites for Government Transparency

Virginia Beach’s official government website, VBgov.com, earned an A- for transparency by Sunshine Review, a nonprofit group dedicated to state and local government transparency. Thirty-nine city government websites in Virginia were rated based on 10 areas of public information that should be available on every government website:

• Budgets
• Public meeting schedule, minutes, agendas
• Elected officials
• Administrative officials
• Building permits and zoning
• Audits
• Contracts
• Lobbying
• Public records
• Taxes

Of those 39, only two other Virginia cities – Richmond and Alexandria – received an A-, which was the highest grade given by Sunshine Review to any Virginia city.
