Sandler Center Announces “Dancing with the Seniors” Program
Senior Education and Outreach Programming Continues in Virginia Beach

The Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, in partnership with Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, today announced the 2012 “Dancing with the Seniors” program. This bi-weekly series spans from Jan. 17 through May 3.
The “Dancing with the Seniors” program, free and open to anyone aged 60 or older, is led by Marquita Bianca, one of Hampton Roads’ most renowned dance instructors. Participants will learn ballroom, Latin, cultural, line dances and more throughout the nine instructional sessions. The series will conclude with a “Senior Prom” on May 3 to allow participants the opportunity to demonstrate their newly developed dancing dexterity.
Tracy Derring, director of events at the Sandler Center, has worked closely with Bianca and Senior Services. “We are so excited to continue our education and outreach programs to seniors,” Derring said. “Our partnership with Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia is very important to us. This program is the perfect complement to our previous opportunities for seniors.”
The Sandler Center’s Education and Outreach Program provides unique opportunities for Hampton Roads seniors to interact and learn about the arts. Programs have included exclusive pre-show meet-and-greet opportunities and master classes with performing artists.
