Fire Chief Steven R. Cover Wins Scholarship to Harvard University

Virginia Beach Fire Chief Steven R. Cover has won a scholarship to attend a special 19-day program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

More than 100 applicants from across the country applied for the six fellowships.  Based on the candidates’ credentials, 12 applicants were given a panel interview at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD.  Cover received the fellowship based on his 30 years of professional experience and his commitment to sharing his knowledge to enhance the safety and quality of life for the citizens of Virginia Beach.

The scholarships are funded by the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the National Fire Protection Agency, Fire Protection Publications/ International Fire Service Training Association and the United States Fire Administration.

The City of Virginia Beach is very proud of Chief Cover for receiving this honor at one of the finest institutions of higher learning in the world.  The fellowship is a 19-day program held in Cambridge, Mass.
