The Virginia Beach Department of Human Services continues to recruit foster parents for children of all ages, including infants, teens and siblings. As a foster parent, you can make an incredible difference by providing a safe and caring home for children who have lived through difficult experiences.
If you have a desire to nurture a child who needs a safe place to live, if you feel called to care for children, if you think it is the right time to open your heart and home to these children, you are invited to attend an information session on Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Human Services building, 3432 Virginia Beach Blvd. A nine-week training class will start Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Parents are also needed in the Therapeutic Foster Care program, which provides specialized care for troubled children and teens in foster care and requires an additional eight weeks of training. This program is a joint effort of the Adult and Family Services and Mental Health Substance Abuse divisions of the Department of Human Services.
