The City of Virginia Beach Farmers Market is hosting two upcoming baking contests: “Everybody Loves Chocolate,” sponsored by the Virginia Egg Council, and our Harvest Fair “Red Star Yeast Baking Contest,” sponsored by Red Star Yeast. Recipe submissions must be brought to the Virginia Beach Farmers Market management office at 3640 Dam Neck Road. Be sure to visit the websites for guidelines and details. Pre-Harvest Fair Contest
“Everybody Loves Chocolate” sponsored by the Virginia Egg Council. Cook up your best chocolate recipe that requires six or more eggs. The judging will begin at noon on Sept. 24. Winners will receive a prize provided by the Virginia Egg Council. Winners may compete in the Virginia State Fair on Oct. 1 to win prizes of up to $375 and a year’s supply of Eggland’s Best Eggs. The deadline for submissions is Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m.
Harvest Fair Baking Contest
Our Harvest Fair “Red Star Yeast Baking Contest” sponsored by Red Star Yeast has four categories. The contest rules require entrants to use the “raised” yeast bread, or roll recipe, from the Red Star Yeast website at www.redstaryeast.com. Winners will receive prizes provided by Red Star Yeast. The first 50 participants will receive a Red Star coupon and a package of Red Star yeast. The deadline for submissions is Friday, Oct. 7, at 4:30 p.m.
