Virginia Beach Public Works will begin two night road milling and paving projects this weekend.
Beginning Sunday evening, crews will begin night paving work on Indian River Road that will include both the east and west bound lanes, from the Indian River Road/Reon Drive intersection, and eastward to the overpass ramp (does not include the I-64 overpass). The work will also continue on Indian River Road from the overpass/bridge ramp eastward to Thompkins Lane.
At the same time, crews will begin road milling and paving maintenance work on a portion of Centerville Turnpike beginning Sunday evening. The work will be on all four lanes from Centerville Turnpike at Indian River Road south approximately 2000 linear feet to the end of the median.
Crews will be working each day from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m., and expect to be completed by May 24th. All work is weather permitting.
The milling and paving operation is likely to produce traffic delays, congestion and some construction noise. Advanced warning signs will be clearly posted advising motorists of lane closures. Citizens are urged to use alternate traffic routes when possible.
