At 5 p.m. today, City Manager James K. Spore issued a declaration of local emergency for the City of Virginia Beach because of the approaching snowstorm.
According to the latest forecast, Virginia Beach may receive 10 to 14 inches of snow overnight, with some sleet. No freezing rain is anticipated, so there are no issues with ice accumulation on trees and power lines. Travel will be difficult, especially with winds blowing and snow drifting. Snowfall is expected to end around mid-morning Wednesday.
Residents are urged to stay informed of current weather conditions and stay tuned to local television and radio stations, including the city’s VBTV channels, which will display emergency information including City operational status and facilities closure notices:
