The Department of Public Utilities has received the 2013 Gold Award for Exceptional Utility Performance from the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies. The honor was presented at an awards ceremony in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Association President Pat Mulroy said, “AMWA awards recognize the extraordinary performance of water agencies where management vision and employee commitment create a sustainable utility producing ample supplies of clean, safe drinking water. The communities served by these award winners should be proud of the accomplishments of their forward-thinking, exceptionally well-managed public utilities.”
The Department of Public Utilities uses technology to continuously track and report performance measures. The department monitors, collects and tests water samples for water quality compliance and actively engages customers through public events, social media, its website and newsletters, while maintaining its AAA bond ratings.
