Grand Jury Returns 95 Indictments: Many Indicted for Crimes against Children

Harvey L. Bryant, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach, announced that a grand jury meeting in Virginia Beach Circuit Court today returned indictments against 83 individuals charging 186 separate offenses. Of those indicted today, approximately 30% were charged with felony drug offenses.

This session of the grand jury reviewed a number of cases involving crimes against children. Those individuals include, but are not limited to, the following:

Dustin Thomas Burke	24 counts of Possession of Child Pornography
Jessica Lynn Camp	Endangerment, Cruelty or Injuries to Children
Ronald Dion Kirkendoff	Aggravated Sexual Battery – Victim Under Age 13
William Benjamine O’Neal Jr	6 counts of Possession of Child Pornography
Samuel Shane Rawlins	Child Cruelty/Neglect/Abuse/Reckless

“My office will continue to aggressively prosecute those that threaten the safety of our children,” Bryant said. “Many of these children are abused or mistreated by their own parents or ‘caretakers’, the very ones who should be protecting them.”

The grand jury also indicted three (3) individuals for felony Driving Under the Influence. Those individuals are:
