William T. Campbell, the latest artist to be featured in the Sandler Center Art Gallery, finds the pastel medium an exciting challenge. He enjoys looking deeply into the natural world and drawing the balance, beauty and color that can be secretly hidden there. He maintains a studio at The Artists Gallery in Virginia Beach. His paintings have won a number of awards, including three Best in Shows and two first places at the Artists Gallery, and a major award in Out and About in Norfolk. Campbell’s favorite subjects include local landscapes, abandoned buildings, gardens, florals and animals.
Campbell is the former chairman of the board of trustees at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art. He began pursuing painting 12 years ago after retiring from a career in advertising. For more information on Campbell’s work, please visit www.wcambell3.com.
His exhibit, “Green Spaces & Old Places,” will be on view from March 15 through June 3 during the Sandler Center’s normal operating hours: Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or during any performance at the Sandler Center. The Art Gallery is on the second and third floors in the common areas of the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts.
