Come to “Super Saturday” on Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for free tax assistance preparation and learn how to be a Virginia Saver!
Super Saturday is a financial resource fair hosted by the Youth Career Center of Hampton Roads, located inside Pembroke Mall. IRS trained and certified volunteers will provide free volunteer income tax assistance to households earning $51,000 or less. The event launches Virginia Saves Week in Virginia Beach. Volunteers from the Hampton Roads Financial Planning Association will be on hand offering financial planning advice and assistance with obtaining annual credit reports, federal “Ballpark E$timates” for retirement, and enrollment in Virginia Saves.
Super Saturday is sponsored by the Virginia Beach Human Services Department in partnership with the South Hampton Roads Earned Income Tax Coalition and the Hampton Roads Financial Planning Association as part of the Mayor’s Action Challenge: 500 Families Financially Fit for the Future. In his formal proclamation declaring Feb. 25 to March 2 as Virginia Saves Week, Mayor William D. Sessoms, Jr. encourages all citizens to take advantage of opportunities to increase savings toward an emergency fund, retirement, home ownership or education, and to pledge to sustain those actions during the coming year. Families seeking resources to improve their financial stability are invited to join the Mayor’s Action Challenge.
