Mount Trashmore Park to Undergo Trail Improvements

Construction at Mount Trashmore Park will begin in this month to improve the asphalt multi-use trail and include state-of-the-art outdoor fitness stations to enhance park users’ workouts. Anticipated completion of the improvements is slated for Spring 2013.

Currently between eight to ten feet wide in various locations, the multi-use trail will be expanded to approximately twelve feet wide and will be renovated in sections to avoid major user impacts. An additional trail connection will be built to link the trail around Kids Cove playground to the lakeside trail. These improvements will better support the multitude of park visitors who use the trail and the many special events conducted at the park. Trail improvements also include the addition of various outdoor fitness stations that can accommodate multiple users at any given time. These fitness stations will provide low-impact circuits for novice users and older adults, including ones that are ADA-accessible, as well as high-impact stations for more intense workouts. These adaptable fitness stations will be located off the perimeter trail around Lake Trashmore.
