The Virginia Civil War 150 HistoryMobile, an interactive "museum on wheels," visits Virginia Beach’s Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library, Thursday, Feb. 28 through Saturday, March 2. On Feb. 28, the exhibit will be open to school groups from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and open to the public from 3 to 6 p.m. On March 1 and 2, it will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The HistoryMobile is wheelchair accessible.
The 53-foot tractor-trailer shares Virginia's Civil War stories from the perspectives of those who experienced it: young and old, enslaved and free, soldiers and civilians. As part of the Virginia Beach visit, a Civil War encampment will be constructed outside Central Library and there will be stories and crafts for children inside the library. Volunteers dressed in period clothing will also mingle with the crowd on Saturday, March 2. Admission to all events is free.
