City of Virginia Beach Offices to Operate Under “Essential Condition” Starting 6 a.m. Monday Oct. 29; Emergency Operations Center Partially Activates at Noon on Sunday, Oct. 28

Due to inclement weather caused by Hurricane Sandy, City of Virginia Beach offices and facilities will be closed to the public Monday, Oct. 29.  The city will operate under an “essential personnel condition” starting at 6 a.m.  The essential operating condition will remain in effect until further notice.

The city’s Emergency Operations Center will operate under a partial activation starting at noon on Sunday, Oct. 28, subject to further notice.  Media may call the following numbers to obtain current storm information:  385-0701; 0703 and 0714.
