City of Virginia Beach Facilities Closed Today, Sunday, Oct. 28

Due to Hurricane Sandy, the following city facilities will be closed today:

• All Virginia Beach recreation centers and parks
• All Virginia Beach public libraries
• All three city-operated historic houses: Francis Land House, the Adam Thoroughgood House and Lynnhaven House
• Sandler Center for the Performing Arts
• Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center
• All Visitor Information Centers

The following facilities are open:

• Shelter for residents at Birdneck Elementary School, 957 S. Birdneck Road
• Animal shelter for dogs and cats only, Animal Care and Adoption Center, 341 S. Birdneck Road – Only available for residents using the Birdneck Elementary Shelter. Dogs must be on leash, cats must be in carriers.
