Services & Layers

Top

Services are groups of associated layers. You can manage the services and their layers from the Layers column. The Property Information and Points of Interest services load automatically. By clicking the  button you may turn the services on or off.

Sorting

You may sort services by clicking and dragging the handle up or down the services list. The sorting handle will not appear until you hover over the service.

Opacity

The level of transparency of each service may be changed using the opacity slider. Drag the handle to the left for more transparency and right for less transparency.

Legends

Each service has its own legend explaining that service's symbols. You can turn legends on/off by clicking Legend.

Layers

Each service is made up of several layers. If a layer is has next to it then it is out of scale and will not appear unless you zoom in.

Identifying Locations

Click anywhere on the map to identify points or areas existing on the active layers.

Once you click the map the identify marker appears and the results begin to load in the left panel.

Each layer which has relevant points or areas near the identify point will be listed with the number of results found. To view all the results click the plus icon. You may hover over each layer and click the x to close unwanted layer results, or you can click the export icon to export results to CSV.

Viewing Results

To view the result's detail click the detail icon. To highlight the area on the map click the zoom to icon. You may hover over each result and click the x to close the result

Map Navigation

Top

You can navigate (move your view) in two dimensions in any Google Map. To pan (move the map), do one of the following:

  • Click and drag the map
  • Press the up arrow on your keyboard to move north
  • Press the down arrow on your keyboard to move south
  • Press the right arrow on your keyboard to move east
  • Press the left arrow on your keyboard to move west

Additionally, you can zoom in or out pressing the + or - keys. Move the cursor over a location and use the mouse scroll button to zoom in or out on that location. To center and zoom in on a location, double click the location.

Controls & Tools

1. Arrows - Click the appropriate arrow buttons to move the view north, south, east or west.
2. Street View - Click to view street-level imagery.
3. Zoom - Click + to zoom in on the center of the map.
4. Zoom slider - Drag the zoom slider up or down to zoom in or out incrementally.
5. Zoom - Click - to zoom out on the center of the map.
6. Drag 'n' Zoom - Click and draw a box on the map.
7. Measure Tool - Click then click again on the map to add points to measure distances or areas.

Printing

Top

You may enter a title and a description and select a print orientation either portrait or landscape.

You may print the following if they have been enabled: Services Information, Legends, Search Results, and Identify Results.

Click the Print Preview button and if then the Print button to open your browser's print dialog.

Any changes you make to the map or print settings will be updated in the print preview.

Save & Share

Saving

Before you can share the map you must save the map. The default title is ‘New map’ but you may enter any name in the Title box. Click Save. You can also click the auto save check box which will automatically save the map after every change.

There are two ways to share the map. To link to the map copy the link provided in the first box and paste the link in email, IM, blog, Facebook or Twitter. To embed the map copy the code provided in the second box and paste in your HTML code.

Directions

Top

To get driving directions, enter the start and end addresses and click the Get Directions button. A Google Maps ‘Get Directions’ function will open in a new window / tab and display the driving directions.

Zoning Information

Several of the layers present zoning codes. For information regarding what these zoning codes mean please refer to the Zoning Districts PDF provided by the Planning Department.

Select the items to include on the printer friendly page.

Drag 'n' Zoom

Zoom in on a specific part of the map. Click and drag open a box on the map.

Turn Off Drag 'n' Zoom

Identify

Click the map to identify elements of loaded layers.

Directions

Enter a start address and end address.

You must enter a start and end addresses.

Rebuilding Cache

The cache is being rebuilt. This window will be refreshed once complete.

Warning

Tilt is not supported. Layers may not line up accurately with tilt engaged.
