The Mayor’s Youth Leaders in Action (MYLA) is a leadership program for Virginia Beach middle and high school students. If you are interested in joining MYLA send an email to
myla@vbgov.com:
MYLA Officers will send youth an interest application; the application must be returned within one week
When the interest application is received, a phone call will be made or an email will be sent out for an invite to a group or commission meeting
If the youth is still interested in joining MYLA, he/she must provide two recommendations by two different adults (other than a relative) to the MYLA Coordinator, include a copy of his/her most recent report card within two weeks
Once the recommendations are received, the youth will be notified if he/she has been selected to be interviewed
Any failure to complete and return all paperwork by the deadline will result in the youth’s ineligibility to be interviewed; the completion of preliminary paperwork does not guarantee an interview nor membership selection
