Leadership Retreat

The retreat is designed to develop personal leadership skills and an understanding of group processes. It seeks to encourage in members a better understanding of themselves and their capacity for leadership; to create an understanding of the importance of leadership in a group; and to prepare members to assume leadership roles in the group and community.

Hosted by the City of Virginia Beach Mayor's Youth Leaders in Action (MYLA), teams of 4 youth (with an adult sponsor) are invited to participate. Participants will: broaden their knowledge of substance abuse and violence prevention at the state, local, and regional level; learn leadership skills & attitudes to address common issues among their peers; network with youth from across Hampton Roads; and work as a team to create a substance abuse and/or violence prevention activity for their school or community.

The mission of the YADAPP Conference is to develop youth leadership in order to foster substance abuse and violence prevention efforts at the state, regional, and local level.
