With the increasing number of aging and physically challenged residents in our community there has been a growing concern for the ability of these residents to maintain their properties. Virginia Beach Clean Community has been in the forefront of addressing the needs of those residents experiencing difficulties maintaining their properties.
The Commission created the Helping Hands Program to coordinate the resources and volunteers with the goal of providing assistance to senior citizens and physically challenged residents who are financially unable to do so themselves. This one-time assistance concentrates on outside yard maintenance.
All nominees are pre-screened and qualified for the program by Clean Community Commissioners. For assistance consideration, please contact our office or download the
Helping Hands Program Nomination Form.pdf.
Volunteer groups are needed to assist with these Helping Hands projects during the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons each year. Talent and expertise in landscaping or gardening is not required but is appreciated. Most of these projects require a time commitment of less than four hours and can be done on a Saturday morning.
