The Virginia Department of Transportation, in coordination with the Virginia Beach Public Works Department, has issued the Notice to Proceed to American Infrastructure- VA, Inc. for the construction of Lynnhaven XI –from Indian River Road to Centerville Turnpike.
The contract is awarded for $18,979,894, and includes installation of a new bridge at the missing segment at Sidney Court. The project will complete the parkway as a four-lane divided urban arterial connecting the cities of Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.
At the request of the City and VDOT, there will be no construction during the holiday season. The contractor is expected to ‘break ground’ in mid- February 2014, and to complete the work by September 2016.
The total project costs - including design, right-of-way, street lighting and amenities - is $37,368,000.
