Here's a handy way to catch even the sneakiest toilet leak, using items from the kitchen:
- Carefully take off the top of the toilet tank.
- Put several drops of bright food coloring into the tank.
- Wait 15 minutes without flushing.
- If any dye appears in the toilet bowl, water is leaking from the tank. Repairing a toilet leak is usually inexpensive and easy to do. Replacement parts and instructions are available at any hardware store.
