Enroll in our automatic recurring payment service to ensure your Public Utilities bill is paid on time, every time. Each billing cycle, your payment will be automatically withdrawn from your checking, savings, or money market account. The following FAQs apply to those customers who subscribe to automatic recurring payments via the online portal.
Is there a fee for this service?
No. This service is offered to you free of charge.
How do I enroll?
to the Western Union Speedpay site using your 16-digit account number and complete the enrollment form.
Will service start immediately after I enroll?
Yes. The only exception is if you enroll on your scheduled due date. In this case, you will need to select the next day to start your recurring payment plan. Your recurring payment plan will begin on your next scheduled due date. In the meantime, you may use our one-time payment options to pay your current balance.
What could prevent me from enrolling in the automatic recurring payment service?
You will not be able to enroll if:

- Your account is delinquent or you have a past due bill.
- You've set up a payment arrangement for a past due balance with two or more installments.
- You received a loan to pay for line connection fees.
- You are a cash-only customer.
Can Virginia Beach Public Utilities disenroll me from the automatic recurring payment service?
Yes. You will be disenrolled from the service if:
- You have insufficient funds in your bank account at the time your payment is processed.
- You set up a payment arrangement for a past due balance with two or more installments.
- You receive a loan to pay for line connection fees.
- Your water service has been disconnected.
If I'm disenrolled from the service, am I allowed to re-enroll?
Yes. Once your account is clear of the above condition(s), you will be able to re-enroll.
When will payments be deducted from my bank account?
All payments will be withdrawn on your due date. If your due date falls on a weekend or holiday, payment will be withdrawn on the next business day.
Can I pay more than the amount due?
No. Only the amount due can be drafted on the due date.
Will I receive a reminder before payments are withdrawn from my account?
Yes. Five days before your due date, you will receive an email reminding you that funds are scheduled to be withdrawn.
Will I receive a payment confirmation?
Yes. You will receive an email every time a payment has been withdrawn from your bank account.
What if I won't have sufficient funds in my bank account on the date payment is due?You will need to call (757) 385-4631 or (866) 697-3481 and press option 2 to request a payment extension. You can also use Public Utilities Online Services to request an extension. All requests must be made at least three days prior to your due date.

You will need to log in to the Western Union Speedpay site and update your information.
How do I disenroll from the service?
Log in to the Western Union Speedpay site and follow the instructions to discontinue automatic recurring payments. To avoid any more payments from being automatically withdrawn from your bank account, you must disenroll at least one day prior to your due date.
