Grease Haulers:
As of February 24, 2009, to service any grease traps/interceptors in the City of Virginia Beach, a grease hauler must be permitted through Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) AND certified through Hampton Roads Planning District Commission's Regional Grease Hauler Program. HRPDC will no longer be offering an in-person regional grease hauler training class. The regional grease hauler training and test is now available at www.hrfog.com. The new online training and testing will allow grease haulers greater scheduling flexibility to become certified as they can now complete it on any day at any time. The certification is good for 3 years.
A few tips on using the HRFOG web training:
1. To review the training materials prior to taking the certification test, under the “Learn” section you can download the Regional Grease Hauler Training Program as well as the Grease Trap Cleaning Guide and other BMP guides/translated materials.
2. Once you have reviewed the training materials and are ready to take the test, under “Get Certified” you will need to register by creating an account with an email address and a password. Upon completion, you will be able to print out a certification card. If you ever need to reprint their card, it is easy to do so by logging back into the site using the email address and password that you set up.

Hampton Roads Regional Technical Standards (doc) - These standards were created by the Hampton Roads Fats, Oils, and Grease Technical Committee and were not intended to replace the International Plumbing Code (IPC) but to assist in the process of sizing grease control devices. If you encounter a sizing calculation discrepancy between the IPC and these Technical Standards, then the IPC is the primary.
