Water Quality
The Department of Public Utilities takes great strides to ensure your water is safe every time you turn on your faucet or take a sip from a public water fountain. In fact, our water is of a higher quality than that required by all state and federal health and safety standards for drinking water.
Virginia Beach Public Utilities administers a program of surveying, inspecting, and tracking the testing of all backflow prevention devices and assemblies within the Public Utilities water distribution systems.

Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) Program
Virginia Beach Public Utilities' Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) Program is designed to provide you with the proper tools and knowledge to prevent pipe blockages that cause backups and sanitary sewer overflows.
Call Before You Dig
The Virginia Underground Utility Damage Prevention Act, or "Miss Utility Law", requires that Miss Utility be called 48 hours in advance of planned excavation work to allow time for marking, that the marks be respected and protected, and that excavation be completed carefully.
