Mission Statement:
The principle objective to be obtained in law enforcement is the prevention of crime; the entire community must be involved in public safety; therefore, the Crime Prevention mission is to develop community responsibility directed at reducing the threat of crime and enhancing safety, thereby resulting in an environment where crime cannot flourish.
Goal:
To provide for a safer city by preventing and/or reducing crime through educating the public and forming community partnerships. In order to meet the goal and fulfill the mission of the Crime Prevention Unit, its officers administer and/or assist in the administration of several programs.

The Virginia Beach Police Department's Crime Prevention Unit is located in Building #15 (2441 Princess Anne Road) at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center. The building faces Princess Anne Road at the intersection with Admiral DeGrasse Way, directly across the street from McDonalds. Parking is located at the rear of the building.
