
On Tuesday, December 4, 1990, Joan Schoppaul, a white 17 year old female, was reported missing from her home by her parents. She had last been seen at 10:00 am and was to return home after visiting a friend. She was wearing a pink skirt, a tie dyed t-shirt with a red jacket and brown loafers. She wore prescription glasses.
On Wednesday, December 5, 1990 at 11:45 am, Joan’s body was found. She had been wrapped in a blue sleeping bag which had been disposed of in a dumpster behind a Farm Fresh Supermarket located at 4740 Baxter Road. Her body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Joan attended Green Run High School and she often hung out in the Green Run area of Virginia Beach. She was a petite white female, who had blue eyes and brown shoulder length hair, 5’ 1’’ tall weighing 120 pounds.
