The Director’s Office includes a Management and Support unit that exists to provide centralized coordination of activities throughout the department. The essential functions fall into three broad categories: customer service, technical services, and financial systems and controls.
Customer Service
Information source for Planning Department
Responsible for coordination of Planning’s on-line presence
Provides direct customer service to phone in and walk in customers
Coordinates media releases
Provides assistance with Census information
Assigns and issues street addresses
Intake and notification for Planning Commission, Wetlands Board and Chesapeake Bay Preservation Board
Technical Services
Establishes Planning data in geographic information system
Coordinates development of citizen access, workflow management and automation of plan submittal and processing
Responsible for development of centralized database of official street addresses
Financial Systems and Controls
Source of fiscal management processes and procedures
Source of department specific budget, revenue and performance information
