When is a special/amusement permit required and what is required to obtain the permit?
Special Permit Requirements:(Amusement Devices/Rides)
The following devices require Special Permits:
Amusement devices and rides (i.e. moonwalks, Ferris wheels, merry-go-rounds, etc.)
Tents greater than 900 square feet in size
Requirements for Special Permits:
- Special Events permit (when applicable) - Annual Inflatables are exempt from Special Event Permits.
- Contractor's business license (when applicable)
- Contractor's proof of insurance
- List and description of all devices / rides with serial numbers and manufacturers' names
- A special - amusement permit application filled out with the following information:
- Special Events Department permit number (when applicable)
- Physical address where the devices / rides are being installed
- Customer's / property owner's name
- Contractor's company name and signature of a designated employee
- Number of devices / rides being installed
- Please allow 5 business days to process your application
- Applications are to be forwarded to Michael Voit
How much does a special/amusement permit cost?
Special Permit Costs:
A 2.0% levy is assessed on the total permit fees (rounded up):

How is a special amusement inspection scheduled?
Scheduling Special Amusement Device/Ride Inspections:
Amusement inspections require that the inspector meet with contractors on-site. The Amusement inspections can only be scheduled by speaking directly with the Inspector between 8:00 am and 9:00 am. It is recommended to contact the Inspector at least 48 hours before the day the inspection is desired, and call to confirm the appointment between 8:00 am and 9:00 am the day of the inspection.
