What is required for an elevator permit?
Elevator Permit Requirements:
- Elevator Permit Application completed with the following information:
- If an elevator contractor: Class A, B or C State Contractor's Registration number, company name, contract value, registered Master Tradesman's signature, name of the customer/homeowner/tenant, physical address of the property where the work is being performed, and if there is another associated permit at the same address, that permit number
- If an owner: name, address, approximate cost of materials (enter this in the contract value), signature, and if there is another associated permit at the same address, that permit number
- For new, existing, addition, or moved elevator work
- Indicate the type of elevator
How much does an elevator permit cost?
Elevator Permit Costs:
- Annual Safety Test & Inspection on traction/cable, hydraulic, freight, escalators = $100.00
- Five-year Full Rate Load Safety Test and Inspection on traction/cable/ elevators = $100.00
New installations:
$30.00 plus $5.00 per $1,000.00 value of construction or fraction; thereafter, without limit, rounded up, + a 2.0% levy (i.e.. $1,500: 2,000 ÷ 1,000 = 2; 2 x $5 = $10 + $30 = $40.00 + 2.0% ($.80) = $40.80)
How are elevator inspections scheduled?
Scheduling Elevator Inspections:
Elevator inspections require that the inspector meet with contractors on-site. These inspections can only be scheduled by speaking directly with the Elevator inspector between 8:00 am and 9:00 am It is recommended to contact the Elevator inspector at least 48 hours before the day the inspection is desired, and call to confirm the appointment between 8:00 am and 9:00 am the day of the inspection.
