How much does an electrical permit cost?
Electrical Permit Costs:
- A 2.0% levy is assessed on the total permit fees (rounded up)
- New service, single phase: $30.00 plus $20.00 per 50 amps
- Change of service / service upgrade, single phase: half the cost of a new service plus any additional circuits installed, repaired or extended
Examples:
| 50 amps: $50.00 |
|
| 100 amps: $70.00 |
To 100 amps: $35.00 |
| 150 amps: $90.00 |
To 150 amps: $45.00 |
| 200 amps: $110.00 |
To 200 amps: $55.00 |
(200 amps single phase new service = $110.00 + 2.0% ($2.20) = $112.20; 200 amps single phase change of service = $55.00 + 2.0% ($1.10) = $56.10)
- New service, three phase: $80.00 plus $20.00 per 50 amps
- Change of service / service upgrade, three phase: half the cost of a new service plus any additional circuits installed, repaired or extended
Examples:
| 50 amps: $100.00 |
|
| 100 amps: $120.00 |
To 100 amps: $60.00 |
| 150 amps: $140.00 |
To 150 amps: $70.00 |
| 200 amps: $160.00 |
To 200 amps: $80.00 |
200 amps three phase new service = $160.00 + 2.0% ($3.20) = $163.20;
200 amps three phase change of service = $80.00 + 2.0% ($1.60) = $81.60
- Wiring is based on the number of circuits (breakers) being installed, repaired or extended: $30.00 plus $5.00 per circuit
- Subfed panels: $30.00 per panel plus $5.00 per circuit installed IN each panel (i.e. 1 panel with 4 circuits IN the panel: 4 x $5 = $20 + $30 = $50.00 + 2.0% ($1.0) = $51.00)
| Temporary pole: |
$30.00 |
| Meter base or panel box replacement or relocation: |
$30.00 |
| Trailer service: |
$30.00 |
| Christmas tree lot service: |
$30.00 |
| Pool bonding: |
$30.00 |
| Generator: |
$35.00 ($30.00 + $5.00 for the circuit running to the generator) |

The inspections are scheduled through Permits and Inspections Online Permitting Service which allows contractors and homeowners to schedule inspections, cancel inspections or reschedule inspections. Comments can be entered regarding ie. an approximate time or any relevant information concerning the inspection. Additionally, inspection results and release information are available. This system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Inspections may be scheduled up to 5 working days in advance of the desired inspection date. However, inspections must be scheduled PRIOR to 8:00 am the day the inspection is desired. All inspections scheduled after 8:00 am will not be available for a same day inspection. It is recommended to schedule inspections no later than 7:45 am the day the inspection is desired to assure the information will be recorded in time.

The inspectors will arrange their daily work schedules and do not know what inspections have been requested prior to the inspection date.
