Meet Your Coaches:
Andrew M. CarterAndrew received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Old Dominion University in 2008 and is currently attending ODU in pursuit of a Master of Science in Public Administration. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia (that’s in Canada), but proudly calls Virginia Beach “home!” Andrew grew up in pools and swam competitively during high school at Ocean Lakes. He’s coached for Parks and Recreation at Bow Creek and for Green Run swim team. Additionally, Andrew managed and served as team representative for Green Run for several seasons. This is his second season as the representative for the Princess Anne Piranhas. Obviously he enjoys swimming, but also finds pleasure in reading, watching movies and is a recent scuba enthusiast. His advice to swimmers is, “The greatest opponent you will ever meet is yourself!”
Kira N. LopezKira is a student at Old Dominion University, seeking a degree in Biology with a concentration in Education and licensures to teach grade 6-12 Earth Science and Biology. Growing up in her hometown of Virginia Beach, Kira swam for the Oceana swim team for four years and has coached there for the past two summers. She is happily returning for her second season with the Princess Anne Piranhas. In her free time, Kira enjoys snowboarding, hiking, baking and swimming, of course! Kira says, “Listen to your coaches because they are awesome. Swim hard and have fun.”
Lauren McNaughtLauren attended George Mason University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security. She swam competitively for ten years and got her start swimming with the Bayside Marlins here in Virginia Beach. Lauren recently joined us in Parks and Recreation and is the latest addition to the coaching staff with the Princess Anne Piranhas. Lauren is an avid swimmer, but also finds passion in reading, rugby and anything else that is active. Her advice to swimmers is to “have fun!”
Lee A. MyersLee has her Associate of Science in Physical Education from Navarro College and is currently attending Old Dominion University as an Exercise Science major and Health minor. She was a swimmer for four years on the Corsicana High School swim team in her hometown of Corsicana, Texas, where Lee refined her swimming skills. She’s joining the Princess Anne Piranhas for her 8th season as a swim coach. Apart from swimming, Lee enjoys reading, cooking, and watching her boys play baseball. She says, “Always give 100% each time you swim. Perfect practice makes perfect. (So if you do it correctly during swim practice, you will do it correctly during a swim meet.)”
