Meet Your Coaches:
Kathryn grew up Virginia Beach and began swimming at a very young age. At age 8, she joined her first swim team, the Princess Anne Piranhas, and swam for three years. As she got older, she also swam for ODAC and her high school team, Kellam. Kathryn recently graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College with a degree in Criminal Justice. Kathryn feels it is important to help others learn how to swim and has been teaching swimming lessons as a Water Safety Instructor for six years and coached last year for the Great Neck Gators. She truly enjoys swimming. Kathryn’s advice for swimmers is, "Swim for the joy of it; swimming is meant to be fun."
Teresa is excited to be back for her third year coaching Princess Anne Rec Center swim league. She has also coached for the Oceana Man-O-Wars swim team for two years. She originally started coaching Oceana in 1991, but due to the military she moved in 1999. While overseas, Teresa coached the A summer league in Japan for two years then came back to the states. Teresa has been teaching swim lessons for 26 years! She loves to stay active and enjoys numerous water activities. Teresa’s advice is as follows, “I believe that what the kids practice is what they will do in the meet, so during practice I ask for them to practice it right.”
David’s hometown is Honolulu, Hawaii and he moved around often as a navy child. He started swimming with the Indian Lakes Stingrays in Virginia Beach. David swam for Indian Lakes for four years and a summer with the Green Run Gators. He also coached one season with the Gators.
