Note: The fishing pier at Little Island Park will be closed for maintenance through April 30.
Little Island Park is a 144-acre beach park in Sandbridge, just north of Back Bay Wildlife Refuge.
The park has a 775-foot beach north of the 400-foot fishing pier for surfing and a 2,000-foot beach for swimming and fishing south of the pier. Back Bay, a brackish lake, provides excellent fishing and crabbing along the western border of this unique park.

The following items can be checked out of the park office with a driver license or other form of photo identification: badminton equipment, basketballs, baseball bats, corn hole boards and bags, footballs, frisbees, rubber playground balls, soccer balls, volleyballs, volleyball nets and beach wheelchairs.

Lifeguards are on duty daily from 9:30 am - 6:00 pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
*The 9 pm closing time does not apply to picnic shelter reservations. Shelters are for day use only.
Kayak & Paddleboard Rentals

September 8 - October 4: Friday to Sunday, 8 am - 6 pm
Single kayak: $15/hour
Tandem kayak: $25/hour
Paddle Board: $15/hour
Ages 6-12 must be in a tandem kayak with an adult; ages 13 and up are eligible to paddle a single boat. Personal Flotation Devices (life jackets) and paddles will be provided with rental.
Canoe/Kayak rentals are also available at Munden Point Park
The 400 foot Little Island Fishing Pier is open seven days a week. Enjoy a newly improved pier walkway/railing, enhanced public access, and a new 200 linear foot pier-shoreline connection. Virginia Saltwater Fishing License is not required on the Fishing Pier, but is required to fish from the beach. Visitors must provide their own fishing equipment. Only service dogs are permitted on the pier. Pier fees are charged May - October.
Fishing Pier Fees:
$1 per day for sightseeing only
$7 per day for fishing
Weekly pier fishing pass: $25
Annual pier fishing pass: $100
*Children 9 and under are free with paying adult (for fishing)
Fishing Pole Rentals:
$25 for half-day (5 hour) rental
Parking fees are charged beginning the Friday of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day
$3 per day for Virginia Beach residents
$5 per day for non-residents
$10 per day for buses/RVs
