Little Island Park is a 144-acre beach park in Sandbridge, just north of Back Bay Wildlife Refuge.
The park has a 775-foot beach north of the 400-foot fishing pier for surfing and a 2,000-foot beach for swimming and fishing south of the pier. Back Bay, a brackish lake, provides excellent fishing and crabbing along the western border of this unique park.

Lifeguards are on duty daily from 9:30 am - 6:00 pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
*The 9 pm closing time does not apply to picnic shelter reservations. Shelters are for day use only.

Rental Rates
Single kayak: $15/hour
Tandem kayak: $25/hour
Paddle Board: $15/hour
Ages 6-12 must be in a tandem kayak with an adult; ages 13 and up are eligible to paddle a single boat. Personal Flotation Devices (life jackets) and paddles will be provided with rental.

Fishing Pier:
The 400 foot Little Island Fishing Pier is open seven days a week. Enjoy a newly improved pier walkway/railing, enhanced public access, and a new 200 linear foot pier-shoreline connection. Virginia Saltwater Fishing License is not required on the Fishing Pier, but is required to fish from the beach. Visitors must provide their own fishing equipment. Only service dogs are permitted on the pier. Pier fees are charged May - October.

Annual pier fishing pass: $100
*Children 9 and under are free with paying adult (for fishing)
Fishing Pole Rentals:
$25 for half-day (5 hour) rental

Parking fees are charged beginning Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day
