Parks & Recreation Commission
The Parks and Recreation Commission is a volunteer advisory group to the City Council, City Manager, and Director of Parks and Recreation. The Commission serves as a sounding board by holding public meetings and exercising influence throughout the City to improve and expand recreational opportunities.
The Commission meets at 4 pm, the first Thursday of each month at various sites throughout the City. The meetings are open to the public. Members are appointed by City Council for a three-year term.

The Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation Foundation
is a 501(c)(3) organization that exists to support the City of Virginia Beach Department of Parks and Recreation by raising funds, accepting gifts, and providing other resources to enhance existing programs, services, facilities, and technology.
In order to achieve Virginia Beach City Council’s Vision – "A Community for a Lifetime" – the foundation will cultivate the development of new programs, services, facilities, and technology, and the acquisition of open space areas (blueways and greenways) for active or passive recreation, parks, or preserves.
