The Department of Museums provides a variety of educational opportunities for residents and visitors that help them to experience the unique marine environment of Virginia Beach and the plants and animals that may be found here, and to learn about the City's history as represented by three historic houses and the families associated with them. The department is also extensively involved in the conservation of the natural environment and the preservation of historic resources.
