Virginia Beach Public Library is partnered with
Opportunity Inc., by designating each of its

library locations as SNAP (Share Network Access Point) centers. Expanding the workforce development services libraries have been providing, the SNAP centers will provide citizens with information about the array of services provided by Opportunity Inc. staff, who can help find job leads, discover educational and training options, and more.
As SNAP centers, Virginia Beach public libraries provide specially trained staff and dedicated computers to help connect job-seekers with OppInc.’s job-matching tools, either online or through direct referral. OppInc. has provided technical training to more than 50 library staff for the project, and provides ongoing assistance to job-seekers referred by the SNAP centers.
Virginia Beach Public Library resources for job-seekers are extensive. Job seekers will find books, audiobooks, DVDs and online tools to research occupations, résumé and interview tips. Each library also provides public computers, Internet access, and word processing software, which are especially crucial for job-seekers without access to technology at home. Several Virginia Beach libraries offer free classes and tutoring in basic computer and software instruction.
