Nearly 200 people visited Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library on Saturday, Aug. 11 for a

dedication of the library's Local History Archives in honor of the late Beach historian Edgar T. Brown.
Speakers included Dr. Stephen Mansfield from the Princess Anne Historical Society; E. Tyree Brown Jr.(Edgar’s eldest son); Pat Cook, manager of Central Library and Library Director Marcy Sims.
Materials from Edgar's collection, on loan from the Brown family, were displayed in four cabinets purchased with funds provided by the Virginia Beach Library Foundation.

The library's Local History Archives, which are typically not open to the public, were open for guided tours.
The event was featured on the cover of the Sunday, Aug. 19
Beacon and included in a recent Access Virginia Beach
segment.
